About
Welcome to my site/blog. I, Jongmin Timothy Moon, try to use this to share the observations, experiences, and insights I gain as I continue to live my life pushing to accomplish goals that I have set out for myself while striving to uphold and reflect upon my own principles. This is where I will also try and document tidbits of my own life to hopefully look back upon in the future to see where I have come from, what I have achieved, and to just look upon past memories.
I am a second-generation Korean who was born and raised in Seattle, WA, USA, and am considerably more fluent in Japanese (JLPT Level 2) than in Korean (Basic) due to my parents' fluency in English. My fluency in Japanese is due to my Bachelors of Art (BA) in Japanese Linguistics, and the year I spent studying abroad at the Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, Japan. Studying abroad is an experience that has enriched my life, and I honestly encourage everyone to attempt it because it allows us to expand our own horizons. That experience led me to pursue my previous aspiration in technology, which directed me to obtaining my Masters of Science in Information Management (MSIM) from the University of Washington. Upon graduating in 2009, I am working to try and solve the issues that plague our recent global economy while striving to improve the overall quality of life of people.
My personal interests include areas such as design, technology, and the sport of Badminton. Much of the world still views Badminton as a "backyard sport," but in reality it is one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports. The sport itself has contributed to the lessons I have learned and insights I have gained, but more than that are the people I have been fortunate enough to get to know through this sport and the community that grows around it.
Although intertwined with my personal interests, my professional interests include, but are not limited to, areas of:
- Change Management
- Risk Management
- Project Management
- Organizational Growth/Development/Efficiency
- Cultural Intelligence/Skills
- Innovation
- (Wicked) Problem Solving
- User-Centered Design
- Web Design/Development
